My learning object for my grade 6 class is to have fun and be creative with their novel studies. Each group will have a different novel they will read and do research on. Above is a Powtoon I created on a exemplar novel called "The Breadwinner" which is a great novel appropriate for grades 6-8. As a novel study group, students will be in charge of creating a Powtoon similar to my exemplar with the following components added:
- Novel Title & Author
- Grade Level and Genre
- Plot Details
-How this links to current Global Situations
- Other subjects that can connect/ link to the novel

The purpose of this is to allow the students to present their information in a fun and creative way to the rest of the class. Other Webtools can be used at the teacher's discretion, but this is the preferred Webtool due to its friendly user interface. This tool is interactive and offers a lot of unique and fun features that students can use to be creative and organize their thoughts/ get their message across to others. Additionally so, this allows me as a teacher to assess different areas of Language Arts in which they are being assessed/ evaluated on:
Writing:
1.1- identify the topic, purpose, and audience for a variety of writing forms
1.5- identify and order main ideas and supporting details and group them into units that could be used to develop a structured, multi-paragraph piece of writing, using a variety of strategies.
Media:
3.4- produce a variety of media texts for specific purposes and audiences, using appropriate forms, conventions, and techniques.
4.2- explain how their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing help them make sense of and produce media texts.
Overall, I feel like Powtoons has many positive implications for engaging students, and can be used as an effective means for presentations, as well as modelling how you would like students to convey information and messages while still allowing them freedom to be unique and creative in their own ways!
